Strengthening a European user facility for nuclear research

This grant aims to improve, expand, and secure access to state-of-the-art nuclear research infrastructures for researchers and teams from Euratom and Associated Countries. It seeks to enhance cross-border collaboration, preserve critical research facilities, and provide open access to advanced experimental platforms in nuclear safety and radiation protection. The project also supports synergies with ongoing Euratom initiatives, promotes international cooperation, and encourages networking among European nuclear research facilities.

Max funding	The maximum amount to be granted to each third party is EUR 300,000 for actions providing access to and securing availability of research infrastructures.

Admissibility Conditions	Detailed in General Annexes to the Euratom Work Programme 2026-2027, General Conditions, A - Admissibility.
Eligible Countries	Participants from Member States and Associated Countries as listed in the List of Participating Countries in Horizon Europe, including Euratom.
Participation of Joint Research Centre (JRC)	The JRC may participate as a member of the selected consortium.
Financial and operational capacity	Requirements are described in General Annexes, section C – Financial and operational capacity and exclusion.
Legal and financial set-up	Beneficiaries can provide financial support to third parties only in the form of grants; maximum EUR 300,000 per third party for access actions.
Eligible costs	Eligible costs may take the form of unit costs for providing trans-national and virtual access as defined in the relevant decision.
International cooperation	Support for international cooperation with non-EU countries and organisations is encouraged where it benefits Euratom researchers through equivalent reciprocal access.
Exclusion of fusion research	Does not cover fusion research, which is handled by the European Partnership in fusion research.
