Safety and certification guidelines and demonstration of safety components for hyperloop

Costs directly necessary for research and innovation activities related to the safety and certification guidelines for hyperloop, including:

• Development and validation of safety guidelines and requirements

• Technical and laboratory validation of key safety components (e.g., vehicle subsystems, signalling systems, passenger exchange interfaces, etc.)

• Contributions to European standardisation work (CEN/CLC/JTC20 and others)

• Research activities supporting certification process definition

• Project management and dissemination activities

• Mandatory reporting (including in-kind contributions by Private Members where applicable)

All expenses must comply with lump sum rules of Horizon Europe.

Award criteria follow those set in Annex D of the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2026-2027 and are complemented by specific criteria in Annex VIII to the Work Programme.

• Excellence: Clarity and pertinence of the project objectives; credibility of the concept; soundness of the methodology and activities for all required work streams.

• Impact: Contribution to the safety and certification framework for hyperloop in Europe; support for European and international standardisation activities; dissemination and exploitation of project results in line with Europe's Rail Programme objectives.

• Quality and Efficiency of Implementation: Quality of the consortium and its ability to deliver; adequacy of resources; project management structure and reporting.

No explicit sectoral business exclusions indicated beyond normal Horizon Europe and EU-Rail programme eligibility.

Participants must not be subject to exclusion as defined in Annex C of the Horizon Europe Programme General Annexes.

Beneficiaries must provide annual deliverables on in-kind contributions (for projects including Private Members of EU-Rail) and comply with mandatory reporting requirements.

Ongoing reporting of data for Programme Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) is required.

Beneficiaries must inform EU-Rail up to four years after project end if results are expected to contribute to European or international standards.
